as soon as they're visible. Joking.. kind of, any one you get from the pet store should be ready to go. I'd say at 1"-1.5" I guarantee if you sex them right and get 2 you'll have babies within a week. No joke

don't buy them from the pet store either.. I breed only the finest of convicts. $75 and I will mail you about 30 of them.

So one more time. What's the max amount of convicts can i put in the 55g.

Bioload wise you can put quite a few. Aggression wise you will probably be able to do two pairs, perhaps three if you have alot of hiding spots.

Thats what i am doing, they are one of the easiest fish to breed and plenty of em, got them in a 40 for more holding capacity.

buy 10. 5 males and 5 females then split the 55 into 5 so each has 11gallons a pair for each section
btw you know most lfs wont buy the fry of you because they are easy bread and butter fish to breed.

I would put in one male and two females. You will end up with plenty in no time.
