What are you feeding? Is the fish eating?

You may need to switch some things up. There are some other medications that can be more effective at killing and purging parasites. Sound like a form of worm infestation more so then just parasite. Are you just dosing or doing water changes in between? How much are you dosing per 10 gallons of water?

Start off with a water change if one hasn't been done. You can also treat the water with some epsom salts starting with 1 Tablespoon per 10 gallons.

If the fish is eating
Then try soaking the food in a mix of epsom salt.

You may want to get some fenbendazole. Its a deworming solution as you may need to soak the food in it. Do this for 2 to 3 days. With daily water changes.

If the fish is not eating then you may want to try dosing clout. Follow the directions.

You can mix the epsom with any of these meds. Be sure to do the water changes. Do not mix the meds themself. Make sure you have no carbon in your system while medicating. But if switching meds do a water change add carbon for a day and then medicate the new meds.

If any other questions please feel free to ask. There are several other very experienced people here that can help.

I though it was bloat since they say hatians cichlid or know for that. I do a water change every 2 days since I started medication. He's in a 10 gallon until I fix him up. im really frustrated at this point, I looked up some old post here and try the 3% epsom salt. I squirted the solution with a baby medication pipe with a small flexible tube.

It looks like it is internal parasites, when this usually happens, I feed them boiled peas and add aquarium salt, hope this helps

its been 2 weeks and the problem still going on. the empton salt and the metronidazole are not working. the fish looks very skinny and he not eating. I really don't want to lose him as he look weaker day by day. I even try force feeding him and he almost look dead when I did it. then came back to life. I had 10 of this hatian cichlid for like 6 month and lost three in 3 week. im going crazy can anybody please help as I don't want to lose him! thank you in advance.

You need to change your treatment. QUIT using the metro. Keep the dose of Epsom salt. But you need to dose something different.

READ MY POST ABOVE that has alternative treatments. Like Clout if the fish isnt eating.

Feed him boiled peas and add aquarium salt hope this helps :)

Fish isnt eating so trying to feed boiled and skinned peas probably isnt going to do anything. Boiled peas has not worked for me more times then its ever worked. Aquarium salt is not the universal answer to an interal parasite or worm. Certain types of worms will not be effected by regualr aquarium salt. This is why the epsom salts are used as a laxative to help pass. Certain worms ive found resist some drugs like Metrodianazole. There for other drugs like Praziquantel
or Fenbendazole are used. If a fish is not eating using Clout is one of the best options ive seen help.
