I've had a heater malfunction on me and my tank temp was at a 100 degrees, all my 6" kuhlii's died and lost a 7" archer but the dats were swimming around like normal. 84-85 would be best for the heater. Besides salt, I've had great results with copper sulfate(coppersafe, aquarisol) to treat ich and prevent it. This is also good for scaleless or sensitive fish.
i wouldn't use copper based treatment with your fire eel and BGK,they are scaleless and the copper could be detrimental to their health, just a warning in case you didn't know, the salt option is the best way though good luck
