you will almost always have snails not too many ways arround that i love it when i get snails makes my clown loaches happy plus they clean my tank while they are alive try another LFS or look at liveaquaria.com

i agree... is next to impossible to not get snails in your planted tank at some point or another without alot of extra work... can dip the plants in water that has a rather small amount of alum in to kill any snails hitch hiking... just remember to rinse the plants well with straight water after before putting in tank
it used to drive me nuts trying to keep snails out of my plant tanks... i just got used to them being in there......

Howdy,

plants is about the only thing I buy at PetCo/PetsMart. My LFS does not have a good selection. And the people at PetCo/PetsMart don't have to be knowledgable about plants - I already know what I want before I go there. I do not order online, because I want to see the quality before I purchase.

Regarding snails, I think they add to the biodiversity of our tanks, a great cleaning crew and are good indicator of overfeeding: If you see a rise in snails, then you should cut down how much you feed your fish.

I have not bought plants online but if you are looking for types not locally available there are many sellers to be found, here are a few,
http://aquatic-store.com/en-us/dept_34.html
http://www.aquariumplants.com/
http://www.****************/catalog_pages/plants/plants.htm
http://www.aquariumgarden.com/index.php

There are many more so if you don't find what you want at these just start a google search here, http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=aquarium+plants+for+sale&btnG=Google+Search

You shouldnt worry too much about snails just take a few precautions and you will be fine. In my 29 planted i have a dwarf puffer which keeps the snail population in check i know they can be a bit nippy but i havent had a problem yet (going on 6 months) with him and my breeding pair of guppies. The tank is very heavily planted and actually i barely even see him.
