Hi guys. I met someone selling me a 12in HOPLARCHUS PSITTACUS. Is it advisable if I can comm him with the rest of my fish? My tank is a 220gallon tank
here is the tank pic

wholetankshot.jpg

3 endlicheris 14-17inches
1 14 inch cichla ocellaris
1 8-9 inch Indo Tiger
1 5 inch NTT
1 4.5-5 inch NGT
and some silver dollars

What do you guys think? I cant buy the fish then return him if he wont be compatible with my comm...

Yes, it would be possible. A 12 incher is a friggin beast for that species. I suggest you try and get a mate for it and breed them instead... That's just IMO. But you can comm them easiliy.

The thing that bothers me is the owner of the Psittacus says that the fish is aggressive. Thats what scares me..he might knockout all of my fish especially the smaller datnoids. If I got the psittacus already I cant return him anymore as it would be a closed deal with me and the seller..

You should ask the guy what kind of fish he kept it with. Though if it is aggressive at all I might be cautious, or not even bother. Your tank looks great the way it is and you don't want to risk ruining their community.

You have a point there, community is doing good as it is now..

I just want some additional fish that will swim in the middle strata of the tank.. I still have some orino growouts but they are still small,,not more than 3inches..

wait for them to grow out.
he already said its aggressive, why risk it?

yeah.. I just want some of you guys to get some sense into me..and I want more fish.

id say keep what u have and dont buy the fish. your orinos will turn out nice and your fishes in the 220 are still in the process of growing. your bioload will be heavy once all your pbass and dats hit 22''. unless u got a 100g sump below it..but still yet a 12'' fish (Which the owner claims to be aggressive) could easily stress out your fishes in a tank that size.

this is a very helpful post, thanks man. What I was planning was remove some fish and add a replacement as I am sure I wont be keeping all the fish now most especially the SD's and redhook. I wonder how long that would take for some of my fish to hit the 22" mark though hehe
