so does anyone have an ACTUAL suggestion?
Hears my suggestion, if you dont like the responses or potential responses to your thread....there are some good suggestions. Dont handle the wood to much. Oil and junk on your hands will allow crap to grow in your warm nitrate rich environment(your heated aquarium) You need to follow proper proceedure before intoducing ANYTHING into the aquarium environment and that is especially true with organic items such as wood or plants. The soaking process is no different than quarantine for new fish. SOAK THE WOOD!!!! scrub the wood and if the motivation is there, disinfect the wood. This is a long term addition to the tank and should be treated seriuosly. Putting fish in the tank to do the work you should have done is stupid. Plecos add more waste than they remove even though they actually eat wood. Algea eaters wont scrub all the crap off. Show some good fish keeping skills and provide for your fish. YOU are in charge of their environment, not the fish.
