I dont know what the trauma would be. He wasnt picked on, always ate, and chilled in his hide
Polys that show this pattern developed from bumping head/body on glass or lids. Then show like this. Can’t rule out other causes but just saying this is what’s seen.

So sorry to hear he is gone :(

Any other info you can give so everyone can tryin help you find out what might have happened? When was your last WC? Not sure of your location but here in Michigan when the weather turns real cold they treat the water a bit harder at the plant so I always have to cut back on the size of my WC's in winter so I don't get such parameter changes (Ph and such). I just lost a 5" BGK last week 1 hour after doing a 75% WC because of that very reason.

Is there anything small in the tank he maybe could have ingested? How old/big was he and how long did you have him? Might have just had some issue you didn't even know about when you got him perhaps.
North Carolina, water change was last night. Nothing small in the tank except plants, sand bottom. 7 inches long, got him 3 months ago at 3 inches.

You're probably not dealing with treatment plants messing with treating water then down there like we are up here with the cold weather so that probably isn't it. Wish I knew what to tell ya as to why so it doesn't happen again. Since you've only had him 3 months there could be a chance he had some unknown issue perhaps? Was he always acting normal and eating normally?
