HELP PLEASE!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ok so here's a quick update, The bichir is in a 10 gallon seems to be doing fine. Im going to have the salt and melafix tommorow at some point when ever my dad gets home from ottawa. If the bichir pulls through this the tank i had him in is 36"x12"x12" would i be able to keep him in that for life? because im NOT putting him back in with the JD even once he's bigger, he's now handicapped and deserves his own place by himself, maybe a senegal with him LOL so is that at all possible? He'd be all by himself most likely because i dont think id want to risk him choking on a senegal if its to small and knowing my luck he would, also he's made it through alot with me so he deserves his own kingdom. So hopefully he can live in there for life or if i upgrade the 55 to a 75 which i kinda plan on doing ill give him the 55 with a senegal. When i get the salt and medafix how much should i dose him? anything special because he's a primitive fish or just what it says on the bottle/box?

Ok so i just got home and added the Melafix and the salt, for the salt i only did a half dose because i didnt want to add to much. So now he hold out and hope for the best, also i bought a small bottle of Pimafix as well, should i add that as well? will it help at all?

Thanks,
Spencer

You could, but I don't like to push meds on a fish that isn't really sick yet (pathogen-wise). Just take it easy. It's a tough animal, and if you keep that water clean, I bet he'll be fine. If you start seeing fuzz, spreading white blotches, red blotches, or abnormal behavior (other than the "this sucks" reaction), then start worrying about the meds. Right now, meds should be on the backburner. Very Clean, warm water, maybe a little salt, and healthy food, should be your primary concerns.

Check List:

- Warm Water? Check
- Meds? Check
- Food? Is krill, shrimp pellets and sinking carnivore pellets healthy food? Also ill throw in a small earthworm if i can find one in this chilly weather

im a little worried he's not eating to much because his lips were torn to the point of where i can see his teeth on the top and bottom because the lip that hide them is gone so id imagen there more then a bit, he can easily last a week if he doesnt he by then right? The reason i ask is because i think his lips should atleast start to heal by a week of treatment.

I would think salt, higher temp, lots of water changes, and some time/patience should help a lot
