help pleaseeeeeee flowerhorn male and green texas female

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
are they a pair alone in their tank? If so, separate them with a divider, most people use eggcrate. Condition them and give them good food for a while, until the female puts on some weight again. Then do a water change with colder water and put them back together. Or do a w/c with RO or some other soft water (small change, don't want to deplete the kh). There are a number of ways but you can get them to spawn by simulating a rainstorm.

Last time we had a tornado here all of my pairs spawned. They were well conditioned though beforehand

This is what I got when I did it

All the fry looked the same pretty much this was the largest male from the batch

Here's the spawn thread

I wish I kept the females from the spawn and bred them back to a fh most texas crosses tend to produce sterile males from what i've seen

But dividing the two and reintroducing them together helps them get to know each other. Dither fish help them bond more if the male has nothing to protect the spawn site from he will turn on the female

Best of luck
