my plec keeps on sucking on the side of my giant gourami any ideas why its upsetting my giant gourami he is of his food please help

The pleco is eating the GG's slim coat. It will only get worse! I would remove the pleco ASAP before it does any real permanent damage to the GG. This behavior will most likely cause an infection to your GG.

Your GG is upset cuz its got something eating its skin!!!

seperate the two the pleco is not going to stop this behavior and can do a huge amount
of damamge with its rasping teeth.-Anne

the pleco was probably really hungry one day and decieded on a sample taste of your GG's slim coat.

Usually once a pleco's got a taste it wont stop.

you could try adding more protein to the plecos diet.heres a evry short course on slimecoat and why plecos eat it -Anne

SLIMECOAT
Is a mucous created by the continal replacement of glandular cells know in the fishes skin hat produce a glycoprotein which is called mucin.Areas of the amazon where a number of plecos exist there is little in the line of protein based foods.Plecs are very adaptable to feeding on availiable food sources and one is the mucus coating of other fish,There is good
evidence of these fish doing this in the wild and plenty of evidence of these fish doing this in captivity. There It really would not be a suprise to find that mucus feeding is a common feeding method in many Loricariidae catfishes.

in terms of a pleco starving.. anyone know how to feed it? i try giving algae wafers but all my fish never give it a chance to eat.. he only has a piece of driftwood and im not sure if hes eating it (royal pleco)

try potatos and peas (skinned).
throw a cucumber chunk in a see if you pleco goes for that.
ofcourse if any of the above go uneaten take them out of the tank
