Hi everyone. Im in need of help here. I had two 5 inch gars..not sure what type of gar. Ive had them for 2 weeks. They are all good until few days ago i found out that both of them pale out and has lumps on the right side of their stomach. They stay in a 90cm wide and 40cm tall and depth, bare tank with one canister filter filled with purigen and also tons of media and two hanging filter filled entirely of media. A led light is only turned on after evening and less than an hour. I feed them live fish frm aquatic stores only. They are very active currently and didnt act strangely but whats worries me is they pale out and also the lumps. Please help. I dont want them to die or suffer. 20171024_204259.jpg

Not sure exactly what’s on ur alligator gar. Can ask P pharmaecopia for an opinion.

i tried taking the fish out and touching the lump. it is soft and doesn't seems to be removable from outside. when touching the lump, the fish is also very peaceful. hope someone can help me out tq

It looks kinda like lymphocystis. A viral infection that fish can get. Typically it would present on or near the fins of the fish though, a patch on the body is not as common. Even so, this is what I believe your fish have.

Being a viral infection lymphocystis has to work it’s way through the fishes system. Generally the bumps will go away on their own within a month. I have never heard of a case being fatal.

In the meantime just make sure to maintain a clean environment for them.

What can i do to make them heal faster?will salt water dipping improves its situation?

Raised temps are likely to help a little bit in clearing it up. In the past when I have had gars with it salt did not seem to do anything. It wouldn’t hurt though either.
