i read stiky threds in this section but since im a newbie plz be kind enuf to answer my questions though it sounds stupid.. thanx in advance folks..!! cherrs

1).Will the plants grow in normal gravel?
2).How to make them grow ON the drift wood?
3).When the leaves die away wont it luk ugly?
4).How to giv all the nutrition plants want?

ill be askin more questions guys..plz help me..this is huge for me :)
 
hello i also am a plant noob and been researching bfor i plant my tank, some plants will grow in normal gravel il be using pfs,as for the growing on driftwood it has to be a plant that will root to an object just use brown sewing thread or fishing line and lightly tie it to it. and just trim the dead leaves off the plants for the best look regular prooning is necesary.and ferts or root tabs are necesary ive been looking into sea chem ferts and root tabs hope it helps i am also learning

2 only some plants will grow on wood such as moss anubias and java ferns. they are the common ones. just use a fishline or cotton string to tie them down. they will attach over time.
3 well healthy plants the leafs dont die. if they do turn brown its best to remove the dead leafs.
4 there are ferts to add but in most low light set ups you really dont have to add much of anything. it really depends on the tank.
 
1. yes, but if you are heavily planting the tank you may want to get the special plant substrate.
2.not all plants will grow on drift wood. tie them on it and they will attach to eventually.
3.healthy plants wont have dieing leaving, if leaves are dead cut them off.
4. you can by aquarium fertilizers, also the special plant substrate will help if you have it.

how thik my gravel should be?ok if im having discus fish..if im puttin my hands insid the tanks n remving the leavs wont i be distrbing the fishies?bcz dicus r highly sensitiv? and how should i use the filteration?and areation? nything specific to do?

edit: by the way i have never tried kitty litter, some people have success, some people say it just become a big mess.
