Help Poly Still Won't Eat

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
he will! polys are pretty easy to convert since they are partly scavangers..

So it's been about a month now that I've had Arnold, and he still only really eats frozen beefheart. I think he must scavange the tank for any left overs in the tank possibly taking sinking carnivore pellets, but he only comes out of his cave when I put in the beefheart.

How frequently should I feed this? I have been feeding one cube of beefheart about 3-4 times weekly.

Mine also took awhile to eat when he was little. I think he had a hard time "smelling" the food so what I did is put the shrimp pellet (cut up to tinier piece) in front of him and he did eat it. I fed mine once a day but try to twice a day. When I fed him beefheart, he only eats probably 1/4 of the cube and probably a couple of shrimp pellets. Mine knew when he is full and end up leaving the beefheart so I have net it out.

only had my ornate a few days now but already eating well. someone suggested tilapia to me so i got a couple filets cheap at the grocery store and he absolutely loves it. I just cut it into pieces he can take down in one gulp and just drop it somewhere near his hideout area. takes him awhile, he won't just gobble it down right away but after a couple of minutes checking it out he eats it. did the same thing when i gave him some earthworms a couple days ago. I also found that keeping the lights in the tank off and just using the light in the room to illuminate the tank seemed to help with the feeding process. not an expert, new myself to these fish, but maybe this will help
