Hi, im having a lil problem with bloat. One of my fish i got not to long ago just died from bloat and now i spoted a new dem acting strange in my tank what should i do and what could cause it? Around the time when i noticed the first dem acting strange was when i interduced my fish to a new food. Ive always fed my fish color flake food and i mixed it up a lil and got some sinking small nls pellets. And theres something else bothering me. The top of my tank is really fogy it has 2 filters running idk what it is. Can anyone help

You need to check your water or take a sample to your Lfs. How sure are you your other fish deid from bloat versus other ailments?

well im not 100% sure it was bloat but it didnt eat for 2-3 weeks and its eyes were puffy and belly was fat and ya there demasoni.

Most sites say to get frozen peas, then = IMPORTANT PART * Take the out side of the pea OFF, ok ? Then give to fish while it's still frozen. This is supposed to help with bloat, constipation, just about any food related poo problems with them. Has worked for my fish. When I first bought the cichlids - the Kenyi, I didn't realize they weren't to have all meat diet, they got bloat. Did the pea thing, it worked great! Hope it's not too late for your fish! Good Luck.:D

Just fyi, please ask for help from some one earlier if this happens again. I become alarmed if my fish don't eat at any feeding time. I figure they are so small, compared to us. Can't imagine not eating for a week or two! There is either something wrong with the water quality or the fish, or both, if they don't try to eat. Or if you give them their 'favorite' eats, and they spit it out, then some things wrong. Please get them help right away if this happens again. :D *I know, trial and error, I'm a noob at this stuff!*

Here's what i did to get rid of bloat in my 75g tank:

Day one starts with a water change of 50 percent..try to get as much
debris out of the tank. Add the mixed diluted clout slowly into the
water. Use the 80 gallon tank amount. If you do not use salts of any
kind.. Do add about 1 cup of epsom salt. (it aids in digestion and
helps with stress) Stop feeding and turn off the lights... bump the
temperature up to 80 degrees or slightly higher if the tank is in a
lighted area... cover the tank then. If you have extra power heads or
water move.. use them.

Day two Do nothing except check on the fish... re cover the tank

Day three Do a third water change...again clean the tank as much as
possible. add another same dosage of diluted clout slowly into the
tank.. Using the amount for a 80 gallon tank... Do not add any
additional epsom salts.

Day four.. Do nothing other than check the fish..

Day five... Check and turn on the light... see how the fish interests
look.. If they are grazing and looking like they are no longer
zombies... Check to see if there is still heavy breathing.... scales
sticking out. eyes popping and anus protruding... if the fish are
still under the weather... do another 1/3 water change and had mixed
diluted clout for a 50 gallon tank.
If the fish are doing better and all of them are grazing and
interested in life... then feed them a little bit to see if they
retain the food and do not spit out. If you have metro.. soak the food
in that...

Day six... Check the fish.. leave the light on for a bit longer and
feed lightly if they ate and did not spit out on day five...

Day seven.... uncover the light... see if fish are still interested..
check to see if there is white or stringy poop. see how the fish are
breathing... keep the extra water movement going... and again.. feed
lightly.. feed lightly about 8 hours later and start to resume your
normal husbandry of your fish but really slowly.... If the fish are
doing well... do a partial water change about five days after your
last water change.

Notes.... its important in the water change to pick up as much dirt
(poop) as possibley. I have read new information about other diseases
that can be spread through fecal matter.... I have observed my fish
when they come across another fish that just pooped a long string...
the other fish, thinking its edible. will eat the poop and then spit
it out again.. another fish will eat the spit out poop... soooooooo it
only stands to reason that if there are problems with the poop...
whoever eats it will also have problems..
