cool thanks! - sorry for interrupting!
you're welcome. gl... btw you can use iodized salt too. i never used it cause i was leary on it even though i was told it was fine. but yesterday i went to a friends and saw the oscar i gave him has ick and he didnt have any aquarium salt so i used iodized table salt. i still recommend either aquarium salt or the salt for saltwater tanks(oceans whatever lol).

The issue towards iodide and other additives is moot. No reason to be concerned about it. It's the usual rubbish "iodine is harmful" all over again.

i have an ornate... even if they are FULL freshwater fish they still benefit from salt in the water.
Short term, yes. Long term, no. There is no reason to add salt permanently unless you are treating for ich. There are many different kinds of salt. We do not find pure sodium chloride in FW waterways.

i said to an owner of a LFS by me that i don't want to get silver datnoids cause they are brackish fish and he said "well if thats the case then all my tanks are brackish cause i put salt in everyone." and thats when he told me about aquarium salt.
Marine salt is what we used to replicate brackish and marine conditions, not aquarium salt.
