So I come home today to find my last tiger barb, they are cannibalistic or atleast the ones I got were started off with 10, he's eating my jaguar catfish alive. I hurry up and set up a separate 20g long, with water from my 120, put in a small hiding spot, gonna out a heater and filter in shortly, have to wait for the heater to acclimate to the temp, and I put stress coat in it, I'm gonna go to the lfs now to see what medications are available that will help. I was thinking melafix? I've never had to treat fish for anything really only ever got ich once and that's it. Any help? He's laying motionless and stiff, when I net him he made no effort to get away, like he's ready to give up.

Sorry to hear and see about the catfish. I'd get it to a hospital tank and add some MB and keep the water clean and what woefulrelic added already.

Sure it was the tiger barbs?

They're the only thing I ever see picking with anyone, and they've killed off eachother, I started with 7. I don't think it'd be anything else. Other fish are rainbow shark, pictus catfish, 4-line pim, Asian upside down cat, bala shark, silver dollars, and a blue botia, which is supposed to be aggressive, but mines is laid back, the 4-line pim keeps him in check. I don't think any of the other cats did it, the bala shark I think is incapable of it, my rainbow shark didn't show any interest in him, and isn't aggressive towards anyone as long as I've had him. Maybe the silver dollars? But they're vegetarians and I've only ever seen them fight amongst eachother on very few occasions. I wanna give it another go, but that's 130$ down the drain. I don't wanna dump it out for the same thing to happen again. I don't see it breathing, I think he's gone sadly. Of all the large "aggressive" fish I've had, only once have I ever experienced something similar. To think "community" type fish would do this, kind of ironic.

I saw little like off white worms like things crawling on it, I'm assuming some type of bacteria or? Maybe this could be and internal bacteria problem?

Bacteria are small and so u shouldn't be able to see It without a microscope. But maybe there's some parasite. Not sure if it's after the fact as well.

I've kept TB and they are nippy but that's it and to each other and smaller tetras. My money is on another fish.

But if it's looking like its gone then sorry for the loss!

I'd be surprised if barbs have done it.

Asian USD cats are very aggressive and do their dirty work at night.

Jags fight vehemently for their hiding spot too. Need to keep in mind.

The jag is gone. I'd euthanize it immediately. Some top dogs recommend throwing fish on the floor as hard as one can. Sounds gruesome but they say instant and humane death. Same with clubbing.

But no one in the tank shows signs of fighting, but it's definitely possible. I know they can be territorial as I've had some in the past up to 9", he's about 5" so soon he'll be making his way into the 120 another 2 or 3" and he'll be big enough to avoid predation, he'll just have to deal with the any aggression the wolf dishes out which isn't to much. I think I'll wait till everyone that needs to be upgraded is in their when they're large enough, then look out for a jag again so that it'll be with less fish and smaller fish. it past quickly yesterday though by the time I got back from my lfs with meds and some other stuff to help him.
