PETA is a joke nowadays; the real enemy is HSUS. Have you noticed the major decline in PETA commercials and increase in HSUS ones? Most of that money goes to lobbyists who are trying to convince politicians to revoke out right to keep any and all pets.
Why do these two insane organizations have to be in my state? Why? That bill about banning all pet snakes makes more sense now, seeing who's behind it. They even want to ban corn snakes here, and they're native!!!! They think they're "dangerous." Please, you'd have to try exceptionally hard to be injured by a snake with a head that small. Sure, they have venom glands, but they'd have to swallow your pinky to use them on a person. They even put rainbow boas on the bill!!! Those things are so passive it's not even funny. Right now we're trying to compromise with them and surrender the venomous snakes to be able to keep the constrictors. Makes you wonder why there was never a ban on hots, even though those can cause a much more likely death. The logic these days.....
And to prove that they're not dangerous I took some macro photos of Boa constrictor faces last week and not a single one tried to bite, not even the aggressive ones. Sure, he gave me a dirty look when I touched him, but no attempt at biting or hissing.

We already have severe restrictions on hots, like not being allowed to bring them to reptile expos. We're allowed to keep humans as pets, according to our laws. Yeah, this state is weird. I'd love to be able to keep the hots legal, but with how stubborn the VA government is compromise is inevitable. They think rainbow boas are dangerous, so that will give you an idea how how uneducated they are. We're focusing on the constrictors and collubrids first, then the hots. We'll see how it goes.
