i have a sanchezi that does this all the time. he can sit normal, but i think he's trying to hid. there are a ton of places to hide in his tank but he'd rather just chill by the filter and sit on an angle. i'd say your fish is ok. as long as he's not showing any other symptoms

sorry for no updates, but its been a couple weeks, he still does it from time to time but not as much as he used. Seems to be healthy otherwise, still eating great.

if you have too much light on the tank it may do that. mine 4" does it everytime when swim into a spot with lots of light. until eventually it gets used to the light
