My Red tail catfish is losing chunks of skin.
At first he was rubbing on the bottom, but looked fine.
About a day later he began to lose spots of his slime coat.
This is when I started treating with Pimafix and Melafix.
Now 4 days after I began treatment he is in even worse shape and losing patchs of skin and you can see the white (muscle?) that is underneath.
I will post pics in a minute.

What are your water parameters? that doesn't look good. Change your water!!!!!

Wow that looks nasty, it looks like you definitely need to do a large water change. I would also add some freshwater aquarium salt.

No Joke....
Cats are scaleless, thus have to use 1/2 the meds. Do a huge water change, You don't need to run a test to see your water is bad. Looks to me like chemical burn and ammonia burn.

Water change....ready.....set....GO!!!!!!!!

Yes and no....

Clean water and aqua salt would do wonders. Do another 50% tomorrow and 25% every other day. Keep temp about 85ish and add a air stone for mare air in the tank.

Yeah keep doing 25% water changes daily and you might want to invest in a test kit! I test my water atleast 2x per week so you can kind of nip problems in the bud when you start to see something going wrong. Also, It looks like you have a bare bottom tank? From my experience those are even harder to keep good water parameters if you're not on top of things! Good luck! And if he doesn't get better maybe consider giving him to someone who can get him better who knows what they are doing. poor little guy....

oh and what size tank is he in? you probably don't have good enough filtration for a RTC if the water is that messed up?
