These 2 were sold to me as a male and female pair. What are your thoughts I’m kinda thinking 2 males??? The first pics is of the larger one, about 3 inch, male. Other pics are of the smaller nica which I assume is supposed to be female, 2.5inch

They look male and female to me to.
Male

female

males show spotting in the dorsal, females very little, and as Joe said, pointed fins for males, less pointy for females, both traits apparent in your photos, and the males profile is more steep (when mature) not quite there yet in your photos.

Ok well that’s replied with the same answer, that’s good news and exactly what I wanted to hear, even though I had my doubts. I didn’t even look at the anal fin. I don’t know a lot about seeing these guys. I was basing my thought of 2 males from the patterns in the dorsal fin. Both fish have the patterns in dorsal fin, more so in the larger (male) and the difference seems relevant to the size differences. Anyway thanks for the advice.

Few more pics of the female

I do see the spotting you are talking about in your video, which is often a male trait, and often a less dominant individual cichlid will instinctively hide certain traits, if the other of the same species is more alpha.
If you are looking to have them spawn, just to be safe, I'd pick up 2 or 3 more Nics, that appear to be females.
I feel this is the best way to get copasetic spawning pairs anyway.
Just getting a male and a female is not great odds of compatibility .
I always try to get at least a half dozen of a species allowing them to select their own preferred partners from a group of choices.
Below was the group my Nics paired off from.

not really looking to breed them but would be an added bonus it they did. I just like the idea of having a male and female and i also really like the difference in colour between the 2 sexes

The difficulty here, is that in the photos you posted, the colors that help determine males from females have not yet fully developed, so maybe that its too young. Your 3rd photo, actually shows color, but its still convincing.

Below a female with enough age and color showing to get an idea of gender.

now a photo with male in the upper section, beside color, note the fin extensions

in your photos none of those colors are distinct enough to make an accurate judgement
