Hello, I have a 2.5 inch haitiensis in my grow out tank with about 6 others, 2 of them looked like they’ve paired off but they both have humps and look like males, wondering if anyone could help sex them ? The first pic is the bigger of the 2 but is much darker ( leading me to believe female) and the fish in the back is the partner that’s it’s paired with

They both look male to me atleast. A female should be a nice dark black color while the males stay mostly white.

Yeah it’s really weird the male looking fish have paired off lol and they’ve started pushing the other few into the corner , I find it weird because one of the other ones is a guaranteed female

It's not very common but same sex pairs do happen. I had 2 male Tinfoil Barb's that would try to breed with each other all the time.

Yeah I guess it’s just bad luck lol I’m considering moving one of the males into a separate tank and try and get the remaining male to pair off with one of the female
