please help iam quite new to the hobby, i had white spot in the tank it all cleared and the tank was fine for about 3 days and them my ram and juv firemouth were gasping at the top of the surface and later on died then the next day the other ram and my redtailed black shark started doing it i bought a airstone and some oxygenating tablets to help this work and both survied. but later on (2-3days) the shark started doing it again i didnt know what to do he also looks like hes losing his colours but the go to the same straight away. i looked up then he looked like he was on his way out hes been at the top for about 2-3 days but hes be detearating so my dad came in and he said it try him in the over tank(new set up 2days old with 2 small juv jack dempsey) so pick him up and put him in that 1 tank he looks better the only problem with the old tank was that it had high nitrates but iam working on it also my air stone fell in the water and prob broke wen i did thw weekly 20-30% water change i can put some pictures up of him with his coulors disapearing.
please a quick help

How long was the tank set up before you added the fish? Did you cycle the tank?

Also, have you tested your water? I see you said your nitrates were high, what were your other readings?

thanks for the help the shark died this morning when i woke up. the nitrates are high but iam working on it waterchanges every 2-3 and vac the gravel becasue iam new i got a undergravel filter system which is bad for nitrates everything else is fine. do you no any more effective way to lower the nitrate quickly because its between 75-100 very high and would it be possible to just get anouther filter and stick it in and turn the undergravel off
