Looks like what my Vieja had near his dorsal fin. I treated with salt and prazipro. Then did a cycle of melafix with the higher salinity.
Thanks everyone. Right now the tank has 3.5 tablespoons of salt and metro in it. He won't eat so I'm picking up garlic paste today. I also treated him with an antibiotic yesterday per the marine biologist at aquarium adventure. If I don't see any improvement I'm going to do the bath after the cycle of antibiotics. I'll keep you posted. You could try feeding the fish some metro either as a food soak or use some NLS hex shield. Also a bath of metro, salt and methylene blue. Bath for ~30 mins using tank water one teaspoon MB two tablespoons of salt and one ten gallon dose of metro per 5 gallons of water. While the fish is in the bath change the tank water. Keep the water very clean and bath once a day for 5 days. See if this helps. GL.

It's tc tetracycline. By API I believe. I also started soaking antibiotic pellets in garlic but he hasn't touched them yet. What's the name of the antibiotic?
Thanks! Anybody? I was pretty darn sure it was a bacterial infection from an injury but now I don't know what to think since it's kind of growing out of him. Could the meds just be flushing it out? Or, could it be some sort of parasitic worm that's being pushed out?No idea, bump
