help silver arowana acting weird

My 12inchish silver arowana is acting very funny. he was acting fine until i put like 3 sick datnoids into the tank. The datnoids had their slim coat and everything falling off with ich. The arowana has small signs of ich.
what can i do to help him, all other tankmates are fine but the dats died.
i changed 50% of water and i added salt and im about to add stress coat.

Add melafix instead of stress coat. Bump up the temp to 86* or so. Make sure you've got sufficient aeration.

the dats came form a different tank.
he has white spots like ich, so i added salt to the tank. I just added melafix and some stresscoat. i also have some pimafix if i need it.

o and the silver has all his fins like tucked in close to his body and isnt moving much, just staying at the top

also can you overmed the tank with stress coat and melafix? i added it in and most of the fish are at the bottom of the tank, but some are swimming like normal

First lets start with water params, temp, ammonia, nitrites, ntirates and pH? What size tank is your aro in? You should be treating ich with 1 table spoon of aquarium salt per 5 gallon of water and temp of 85 degrees.


I would not treat with melafix, primafix or stess coat for ich.

I agree with Bderick ..those meds are not for ick ..salt and heat and super clean water will eventually get rid of the ick as long as they have not had it a very long time.. is the arow still eating? Ick goes through cycles so it will seem worse before it gets better .. but just do as the above says and hopefully all will get well.

he doesnt only have ich. a bit of his slim coat is going off and before he had a very stringy white poo. I will let you know all water specs when i get home. The arow isnt eating anymore. I also added the melafix because he ripped up a lot of his fins from jumping.
is it possible to overmed the tank? the fish are less active
