Just found this tiny little guy while cleaning near my gold fish pond..sorry for the horrible pics but he is only the size of a nickle if that!! what should i do for him and what kind is he.. what would something this small eat?? Help me help him .. :confused::confused:
 
can you feed blood worms or frozen krill???
 
thanks ..i am going to try for better pics.. if it is painted turtle how and what do i feed..he is just so tiny for me to get a good pic ..he does have some painted stripes on each side of face.

its a painted no doubt, i got sunny at this size, bloodworms will work at this size just feed him all he can eat once or twice a day. you could also try reptomin baby, sunny could eat it at that size

What else did you feed Sunny and what kind of environment did you keep sunny in .. how long does it take them to grow.. do you still have sunny,,thanks !

im thinking painted
that being said bloodworms, turtle pellets, freeze dried shrimp, fish, cucumber, aquatic plants

they eat in water, need uv light, basking area under light

very nice turtles you have.. i have my snapper in a similiar set up.. thank you for the list of foods.. for now would large bowl with place to bask in garden window be suitable.. he is so tiny i don't want him out of my sight..so painted need land and water... which do they prefer..i don't know anything about painted.. but they are beauties..
 
sunny is about a year old now and i still have him.
he is about 2.5" right now and i keep him in a ten (hes going in a 55 this summer)
sunny's diet is mainly reptomin, blood worms, and bits of tilapia and market shrimp (he loves this)
he does pretty well with most fish ( ive kept him with cons, fms, bass, and bluegill) he did once kill a sick baby sengal though.
they are great pets but sunny is unusually aggressive and high strung, i still love him though
