It's gravel, not live sand or rock. Just buy some more if this bucket gravel is tainted. If wanting to save it then boil like others have said.

They can live for long periods out of water i've found. I like snails though. Having said that, if you want rid of them, get yourself some loaches and manually remove the adults.

I am not sure which method to use, I was hoping to spare the bacteria so my new tank will setup faster, but would rather be rid of the slimeys... LOL. I like snails, but not ones that are trying to take over the world, that is my job LMAO.
