Watch that heater, I have had many cichlids attack heaters to their own detriment. I try to keep all heaters in the sump when dealing with large dominent cichlids. By adding a new fish you (he) has created a monster. The other fish he grew up with may have been his pets, until now, the dovii natural instincts have been now awakened, watch your hands and fingers.

Yup. The dovii is as I hear a very notorious killer. Supper aggressive and really should be kept to themselves and having any tank mates there is a high chance of them being dead at some point.

About to say Duanes I didn't create a monster for **** ahaha, I never put serious thought to how lucky he was to have a Dovii that tolerated tank mates because he moved in 2 years ago and the tank and fish were already established. It wasn't until I got on this forum that I found out how rare that was even, but yeah now the fish basically follows you if you walk by the tank which is pretty annoying, he also used to spend a lot of time in his driftwood setup and now he's just all over the tank never have seen him active like this before. I need a camera!!

My roommate won't buy into the Dovii snapping theory. He thinks the Frontosa must of killed the sailfin (keep in mind a bigger sailfin) and a same size clown loach, then the Dovii took out the Frontosa. The Sailfin and clown loach both had patches of scales around the gills ripped off but no damage to the face. The Frontosa was literrally missing his face basically, like its' hard to describe how it looked even. I know this video is kinda hard to look at, but the Frontosa's face basically was like the green terror's in this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pje0Z_xXYOs just it was very dead when we found it.

Thats easy to explain since cichlids battle face to face thats how the front. lost his face. The other fish probibaly died smashing into the glass running from the attack. Keep in mind dovii can snap at any point any any size. Mine does not let you within 5 feet of his tank without letting you know the doesnt want you there.

Your friends dovii snapped and went nuts and killed everything no surprise to hear that. They are super aggressive and should be kept alone and with nothing else infill you have a 500 plus gallon tank and then really nothing can go with it
