went and picked up acid today from lowes and cleaned the sleeve.
also i have been "straining" the water as it comes back to the pond ... running it through a very fine landing net that is taking a lot of the particles out
so i guess we will see where that gets me
i am also in the process of setting up a 55g drum filled with media as my filter ... so i am going to run it without media for a few days and see if some of the junk will settle to the bottom and then i can clean that out as well
i dont want to add the media (mainly bioballs) until my water is clearer, because they will just become a slimey mess

One thing that will filter out algae is quilt batting but it clogs easy so you really need to keep an eye on it. If you do use it you want to make sure it does not have any fire retardent or other additives.
