Help. . .still can't get this stuff off the glass

Have you tried a new razor blade? A quick spray of water and a few swipes of a new razor blade will usually clean glass perfectly. It's how you prepare the glass for new silicon when resealing, it gets every last bit of anything of the surface. Now if it is indeed etched in then you're kind of SOL.

Just tried hosing the tank down with my Platinum 7x distilled vodka :naughty:

Still nothing. Good thing I didn't use the Grey Goose.

Like I said, its almost like the haziness is in the glass. Getting increasingly more irritated and bummed. The guy told me this tank was only 4yrs old and in pristine condition. The sticker inside the tank says it was made in 1999.. . hmmm.

Ive tried razor blade too. . .there doesn't seem to be anything to scrape off. Its like this haziness crap is just "in the glass" Not really that noticeable when its entirely wet though.

Yes. Its a glass tank. I'm so ticked right now. I "made" my husband drive 8 hours to get it for me (while he was on a moutain biking trip) :) The size & stand/canopy were exactly what I was looking for. . .found it on craigslist. I didn't actually see the tank b4 getting it, other than photos. This kindof blows because I was so excited to get it and now its "less than perfect" I'd hate to go out and drop $500 on another tank. ..defeats the purpose of getting a used one on craigslist.

If you have the means to drop 500 bucks on another tank, Im almost positive there is someone out there that will be willing to buy that 120 off of you....get what you paid out of it and put that towards a new tank...you will probably never be happy as long as you know that haziness is there, filled or not...

I have that problem with a 55 I bough on ebay but it's much much older. It a 55 without a center brace. I have a 55 reef without that problem, had the tank in storage after years of salt water and no major problems, just cleaned it with vinegar and vodka, wife wondered if I got a new tank while she was out. Hope it works out.

My tank has that haze too when it's empty. But can you notice it when it's filled with water? I know it might be frustrating to look at empty, but if it's anything like mine... you won't have any idea when it's full. You'll never tell.

Just wondering though... if you don't see it at all when its full up, whats the problem?

When I got this tank going again it was previously used for saltwater years before I cleared the shell gravel out used some water and a scraper to get the salty ocean
smelling crap off and did a few more rinses and filled it up I think it will be fine...

Just fill maybe 25% of it up and see how it goes from there and if you still see it
let it sit for a day and see if its maybe soaked off or whatever that's the best I can
do for you without seeing what it looks like heh..
