Just bought a 300 gallon tank. Filled it up doesn't seem to be any leaking but looks like it is bowing a bit in the middle...it measures 60 1/2 cm on the corners and 61 1/2 cm in the middle, so about a 1cm bow. Is this ok? How do I fix it if not? the glass is 1 and a half cm thick. The tank dimensions are 8ftx2ftx2.5ft. It has no support in the middle, I was going to make my own out of glass but didn't know if it would even do anything, so I just filled it up slow to leak test it in my garage. No leaks just bowing...Thanks for any help or encouragement you can provide!!

anyone try eurobracing?? Just read about it, wonder if it would help me? Any thoughts?

that alot of bow though, don't you think?

i dont have a tank that big so im not sure how much is okay but i really cant think of safe way to brace the tank that is also attractive some one else might be able to help more than i can

Thanks anyways, I called glass cages and asked them, they told me to build a euro brace....Seems a bit expensive to do...I really want this monster tank, so it's very frustrating when you can't get it up and sleep at night with out fearing that it will bust.

Bracing a tank is not that difficult. It is simply a piece put int he center to support the glass.

Take two pieces that are 3-4"x24"x1/2" and silicone them to the tank while it is empty. Let is sit for a few days and then fill. If you are worried, you could put three pieces across the tank and it should be plenty.

do you know if he needs to brace it? i do know glass tanks can bow i just dont know whats acceptable on a tank that big if someone knows he may not have to do anything
