Hello everyone,

I have set-up several tanks and purchased a really beautiful gravel from a local supplier (not a LFS, Local Garden Center). I thought I thoroughly washed the rocks (1/4 to 3/8 in size) but I am sure that I am wrong now.
In three of the tanks I have an crazy algae bloom that is spreading like wildfire over the rock (and a little on the glass) and I have some little critters in other tanks. I haven't noticed it in all tanks, but in about 6 of them. I set-up about 46 tanks over the past month.

I can see tiny little bugs/parasites swimming in the tank and crawling on the fish. Very apparent on the clown knife and the oscar (I guess because of the fishes dark color, the parasites are white).

Is there a treatment for the water that can kill the critters and not harm the fish. All other fish behavior is normal for the individual species. Oscar adn clown knife both eat well. Knife swims occasionally and oscar swims alot, rests, swims more (The typical oscar behavior that I have witnessed over the past 28 years). I tried taking a picture but they did not come out. I really have to focus to see them. Once found it is apparent that they are moving in water and on the fish. Not dense, about 3-6 tiny dots per square inch (where critters are visible, blotchy infestation for now).

I truly appreciate your assistance.

Best ragards,

Peter

are the tanks getting direct light? that usualy causes algae blooms..cant see rock doing that as for the bugs could be from rock but usualy dirty gravel from old tanks not being gravel vacumed....but new rock should not have them if you rinsed them good.....so temp raise and salt as mentioned will help
