help, tips?

Hey, there is another thread about me planning to cross a pink convict male, with a red devil female, but i am wondering what i can do other than just put them together, to help things along. The RD i have has bred with a 7" Blood parrot, and that was an acident. i have convicts that breed, but all you need to do with them is have a male and female, and they do the rest.
Right now, the male con is on a divided side of the tank and is still setteling in. The lfs put this alpha in the cold water tank to mellow it out. For a convict, he is a picky eater. hasn't touched flakes, but last night he nibbled on some blood worms. he probably is holding out for goldfish, since he was in a feeder tank. I will keep in on hisown side, beefing him up for to more days, then i'll introduce him.

Here are some specifics-
male convict 4-4.5"
female red devil 3,.75-4"
tank: 1/2 of 55G (big parrot will have his own side)
Other fish: 5" syno.eurpterus, 4" pictus, 6-7" parrot

Any tips appreciated.

Ps what can i do to make it him more of a redish color? he is a little parrotish in shape, so im almost there. I imagine the fry will be calicoish. The RD is creamy orange, with a milky white center. the convict is pink-white, with black on the face and center. I hope the traits mix well

There's only speculation that can occur here But, if they like each other, problem solved Not much else you can do about it to speed things along. I think.
As for coloration - pink is normally a recessive gene, so the babies will probably be all "normal colored" like the red devil, which means brown or gray, in the fry. It's in the shape that you'll see the most difference, though, usually. Good luck!

like short bodied? sweet. If they look good that would be cool to sell. Dwarf red devil hybrids

No, not like shortbodies. That is not likely, as both parents are "normal"

well added a few caves, and put them on the same side. Right then and there they storted mouth fighting, don't think it is the good kind. I'll update again tonight.

well, the convict turned out to be a giant pussy. The rd beat him. then see bit onto his tail on stayed there even when he swam away. she owned him. I got fed up with see my New "alpha-male" getting his ass handed to him, so i moved him with the little convicts that are barely bigger than his eyeball. What is even funnyer, is that he stumbled one a pint-sized breeding pair, and they forced him into submission. Needless to say, if this guy was in a guys prision, he would be the one to always drop the soap . Now i guess my only hope for a pair, is the weak little blood parrot in that tank, that got half its scales and fins removed by the evil red devil, and i am not sure if thats a female or not.
