Help to catch catfish!

Hi, I lived near a lake and I heard that there's some brown bullheads (Ameiurus nebulosus). Today, after school, I will try to catch one, but I never caught any catfish.

What kind of lure should I use? Preferably not live baits.

I assume that catfish lived at the bottom, so should I use fishing sinker? The lake isn't much deep, about 4 to 5 meters max.

Any tips will be very useful, thanks!

For bullheads use chicken liver. They are garbage fish and they go nuts over them.

I dont fish for bull heads I use them as bait but for cats I use a ugly stik tiger rod with an abu garcia ambassuder 6500 C3 with 65 pound braid and a 2 foot 50 pound mono leader. I use a 2-6 oz lead sinker depening on were i fish then I use circle hooks with a cut bluegill skipjack or bullhead all dead or alive. hope this helps

scented plastic jigs work, but in a pinch unscented can be effective is you present it well

Thanks guys! I'm going to fish right now. I have plastic jigs and if it doesn't work I will try with chicken livers.

Chicken liver works the best for all catfish!

I don't know about lures but I always found the best time to fish for bullhead was at Midnight....but we always used nightcrawlers

chicken liver/raw shrimp are your best bet for bullheads

take shelled shrimp and put them in a plastic bag. Then let them sit outside for a day. That is some of the best catfish bait u can use.
