I'm heading out of town for spring break, meaning everyone I trust in this town is also leaving. I will be able to do a WC and feed my cichla on Saturday, but won't be back til the following Saturday.

6 Days.......will they be alright? What do y'all normally do?

How big are they? If they are fairly large, they should be fine for that amount of time.. Maybe feed them a little extra today and tomorrow. I have an automatic feeders I setup when I leave for a long time.. But if they are of good size they should be fine IMO..

Not sure what stock your keeping, but i'd rehome/move any questionable tankmates as far as size goes. My 15" Mono gobbled down a 12" Ornate Bicher when i didn't feed him for 2 days due to my work schedule. Hungry Cichla WILL eat smaller tankmates that they normally don't bother if the oppurtunity arises and they get hungry enuff.

How big are the fish and what's the stock? How big is the tank? Whats the filtration? How often do you do wc's?

75 gallon tank, 2x cichla monos both about 4 inches, 4x clown loaches all about 4 inches. I do a WC every week have a cascade 1000 filter.

if they are eating pellets just load them up meaning feed them a few times a day for the 48 hrs before leaving and do a water change right before you leave. But as much as most cichla lovers hate to hear. you can put 30 rosies or a few more3 ghost shrimp in there after you powerfeed them pellets and it will allow them to last a bit longer but you could honestly be fine with just a small powerfeed.

^^^^thats what id do w/ cichla so small. Dont wanna starve em. Maybe get a feeding block or something for the loaches.

I did a water change the day before i left, and fed them the day i left, and they were fine for over 7-days without eating........
