I left mine for 10 days last winter, they were about 4". Water change and feed them heavy before you go. They will be fine.

Evaporation in the sump and power outages are my biggest worries when I leave for vacation.Feed them well before you head out out and they should be fine.

But as much as most cichla lovers hate to hear. you can put 30 rosies or a few more3 ghost shrimp in there after you powerfeed them pellets and it will allow them to last a bit longer .

I wouldn't recommend this strategy. Fish, even when tank raised, still have the natural predatory instinct. They will eat and eat and eat and eat. Overeating will kill the fish.

And yes I am speaking from experience

What I also notice is when your fish aren't used to feeders they will gorge themselves and then spit up partially eaten feeders which can quickly foul your water. That's just from my experience.
