If you REALLY want to try to treat, you're going to need a lot more than salt or melafix judging from the pictures. I'd use a powerful antibiotic. Salt and melafix are really only going to help with mild cases IME, from the pictures this is NOT mild. The swimming in circles thing is usually a sign they're beyond help though. Good luck.

Don't do this, bacterial infections can get much worse at higher temps.

Something powerful and broad spectrum, really depends on how good your LFS's medicine supply is. Some places you'll only be able to buy maracyn. I don't even know exactly what would be recommended as I haven't treated anything that severe from a injury. Maybe a sulfa based drug or kanamycin.

The only reliable LFS around here wouldn't have that, but my best bet would be Pets Unlimited for meds...
