Ok turn your filters on at least, heaters don't really matter. I keep my house at 74 and don't even use heaters. Yes; Cycle is the actual name of the Bacteria Supplement and all fish stores have it. Small bottle will do you fine. It speeds up the bacteria growth in the tank on new tanks, also use it if you have dirty fish (ie.. Oscras, Dempsys, and so on) The water will look clear for now it will get cloudy tomorrow or next day. Don't worry just watch it. After the water clears take water in for testing. Stress Zyme is basically teh same thing as water conditioner so don't add the two together, but don't worry about that now. Also don't add water clarifier it's a waste of money. The filters that you put in are made of Active Carbon and what that does is clarify and deoderize your water. you say you have 2 so you should be very fine. I will be on all night tonight in a couple days if you need any help e-mail me at beaufails@cox.net and I will be more than happy to help you through the set-up process.

Summary: Turn filters on, If you want get Cycle and add 1ml per gal, wait for water to turn milky then clear (2 days with Cycle about 7 Without) then we will go from there.

If you know someone with a fish tank you can also use some of their gravel or some of the filter pads/floss/whatever to help start your tank rather than using cycle from the store
You can add a few handfuls of gravel and the stuff from inside the filter then add the cheap feaders at the same time and let it run for a couple of week feeding daily and making sure your ammonia levels dont go above .25

After a couple of week you can start adding one or two fish at a time every week or two until you have your tank fully stocked.

This gives the beneficial bacteria that converts toxic ammonia and nitrite to less harmful nitrate time to grow to the levels fish in your tank and keeps you're fish from getting stressed.

You need to read this:
http://www.fishaholics.org/articles.php?ArtId=12

and do a lot!!! of reading on the web. Find out all you can before you start your tank. I didn't and i paid the price. I set up a 90 gallon and did not study up on anything. I lost a lot of fish.

remember..... READ ALL YOU CAN... and also find out what type of fish you would like to keep and study some more on there type of water condition, type of gravel of sand, live plants or fake.... AGAIN READ ALL YOU CAN ON THE CYCLE OF YOUR TANK
AND READ ALL YOU CAN ON YOUR TANK INHABITANTS. OH AND good luck

Don

Thats a good article heres another

and a better description of fishless cycling

As the others have stated read and understand whats going on in a running tank before getting fish.It will save you $$ and heartache.

And buying products like cycle is a waste of time and money. They are completely unneccesary. If you know someone with a running tank,a little dirty filter media is the best thing you can add to a new tank.
