Purchase a 20g tank, a sponge filter or Aqua Clear 30, a 50-100w heater..............Pick up a pair of Convict cichlids........Normal color form is a dark blue to almost black with some dark stripes..........Only females show color on their bellies, the color red to sometimes red with yellow..............These fish breed easily and will produce up to three spawns per month...........Each spawn numbers between 50-200..........The fish cost between $1.99 to $15 in most stores.........Average regular cost for a 2-5 inch breedable adult is $5-8...............

Why feed feeders ? A diet full of feeders isnt good for an oscar , a quality pellet is a much cheaper alternative and less hassles with HITH ,popeye and various other problems feeders can cause

Rosies are a horrible feeder fish. Very low nutrients, often has parasites and contain thiaminase. Convicts breed faster with larger clutches, and actually have some nutritional value. But Feeders should only be used as a treat about once a week IMO

thanks every one what i forgot to say was that i don't intend to feed them to my Oscar and actually keep them . I have looked at the Convicts here unfortunately they are a little expensive due to the place I'm in. Convicts are a bit of a rarity

convicts rare? barbs and tetras are a pain in the ass to breed, get chiclids or livebearers

it's just the geographical location which makes fish a little hard to get i was told to get a whole heap of different types but the thing is every thing has to come from Perth by plane or truck so it's either expensive or can't get it . I did track down a local Convict breeder but at $10 Aussie a pair not food for my boy

Rosy Barbs are egg scatterers. Set up a thickly planted tank with just them in it. Leave some open space though so they can swim around. If your breeding for just feeder use time and money spent raising fry you probably be buying feeders for a while until you can get a many batches or fry growing in different stages to keep a steady supply going for that. Might just be more economical to just buy feeders.

Cheers for that but I acutally don't want to use them as feeders i think they look very cool and are a nice busy fish to watch it's what drew me to them
