hey every,
im been looking for infor on the b. ram. i have 2 in a 55 gallon tank, not sure on the sex of them. they been great togeather, swiming around the tank togeather, however i notcied late this after noon, they been "lip locking" and the bigger one cases the smaller one around. i have plenty of hinding places and stuff. i been searching the net for any info, but every thing i come accross say the same thing, as if every one copy and past from each other. Is this normal behavor for rams to do such things. Does any one no of any web site or forums that explain such behavor. any infomation would be greatful!... thx in advance

Lip locking is typical for almost any cichlid. It could be that the two are challenging each other for dominance, or if you have a male and a female, they could be courting each other. Just make sure that neither is getting beat up too much.

thx, as far as i seen neither getting beat up so far but i'll keep my eyes on them :)

Do their colors get darker, and when they stop chasing do they remain close to each other? Or does the chaser stop and the chased keep swimming away?

as for color, i have not notice any changes. when chaseing, the bigger one will case the lil one just for a very short moment then they both stop and remain close.

that be cool! every one thx for takeing time to reply, it been a big help!

Also judging from pictures in the ram thread, I think you have a male and a female.
It's hard to tell though. I know for sure one has a mainly yellow body, but does the other have a pinkish color to the body/chest area?

not that i know of... just in the past 24 hours yellow been showing on the bigger of the two. on the other does have a light color too it. it looks like a very light pink but i am color blind so i am proble wrong on the color... lol

Hmm. Well try to post pictures of both the fish so we can take a look. :) I think it has light pink though, so it's probably a female..
