Hmm. Well try to post pictures of both the fish so we can take a look. :)

i will as soon as i can.

lol woke up today to see an reverse roll with the ram. now its the smaller one chaseing the bigger one. hahaha

I took the advice of Ed Burress and my wife now has a small colony of 5 in a 50 gal. It's pretty interesting to watch their social behavior. It appears we have 2 males and 3 females in the colony with one pair producing eggs. No successful fry yet as I've learned they take a few trys. Their colors when breeding are incredible!

yea i was suprised on how well the males color up during spawning :)

Out of 6 Bolivian Rams, a pair finally formed. Eggs where layed and the male is protecting them well. this morning the male was moving the eggs from the spot they were layed to a small hole/ ditch beside the nest. Hopefully it will not be long befor baby rams start wiggling around!

I'm hijacking this thread but didn't feel I needed a new one.

My Bolivian Ram pair has spawned a total of 5 times now (in the past 3 months). After a couple unsuccessful attempts I've managed to finally raise about 30 or so babies to about a 1/4" length at this moment. Those fry are in a mesh box hanging on the side of the tank right now and the parents are guarding their last brood.

Does anyone know if the parents will eat the grown babies now that they've been separated for a while? I'd love to release them from the mesh box and have them swimming around the tank but I'm afraid the parents will eat them. Any idea?

Bolivian rams are really good parents. I dont seperate mine and the fry do just fine with the parents. however the other fish that was in the same tank had to be moved to a differant tank because thay was eating the fry not the parents.
