HELP, what is this white spot ?!?!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
looks like a flesh wound to me. I would keep an eye on it to see if it gets worse. Keep the water clean and change it often, you can add salt, but its not neccessary.

a lot of rays like to be stroked
Assuming its a sore spot, would you REALLY want to go touching a sore spot on a animal with a spine that can tag you faster than you can react?

your assuming its a sore spot it may just be a piece of crap stuck on him.

The point is, would you really risk touching it hoping its not a sore spot and just a peice of crap stuck onto him, especially if its that close to the eyes?

i wouldnt poke it poke it, just lightly brush the area around it then judge its reaction, if it doesnt seem averse to it actually brush the spot. but if it hasnt fallen off buy now it probably isnt something stuck to him.

sometime you cant be squemish, think about vets especially with wild animals;)

well i know its not anything just stuck to him, and im not gonna touch him anyways...
i just got home from work and checked on him. the spot hasnt become any worse but im also not sure if it looks any better yet.
as of last nights 2 water changes of 30-40% each time(with an hour between changes), my levels were ammonia 0, nitrite 0 and nitrate sitting just around 5ppm.
im going to be doing another 35-40% water change in a few mins and will test params before and after.

and come on guys, i said im not gonna go touching him, being as i am not a vet nor someone with a background on aquatic animal injury so i wouldnt know what to feel for or how to go about it properly anyways. so lets stop the talk on who thinks i should/shouldnt touch the problem area.
