HELP: What is wrong with my 3 Silver Arowana's??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Looks like your silver is peeling from a sunburn :nilly:

Both melafix and primafix are great meds but in my experience they either recover or die(never treated an arrow with these meds).
Myxazin, would be my first thought, a great med for general care.

man i just dont want them to die

i am looking for an arowana i live in oak forest il. it does not matter what kind. the sizes i am looking for are between 15-20in. i recently lost a couple and i am looking for at least one.

I've kept aro's, even fish a long time and have never experienced anything like that.

How are your water parameters, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH? What is your water change and maintenance schedule? Did this come on all of a sudden or did it come on gradually? Are any of the other fish affected by it?

Frequent water changes and keeping the temp at 84 degree could help and definitely won't hurt. Make sure the tank is well aerated. Hopefully someone will have had experience with this and can suggest what meds will be effective.

I would agree with the gar comments except this is obviously not a injury caused by the gar.

bump

i don't know how to help but pointing out the following in trying to zero in on the culprit:

- for a pleco to die from water quality, the water must be pretty toxic. however, if its death was from a kill, the killer must be worse than a jar in temperament. hence it would wipe out everyone else in the tank eventually if it could.

- does it look like slime coat peeling to anyone, the worst kind? well, besides those red markings/wounds. i know this may not be as simple as slime coat peels but it does look like it to me.

- can you separate the silver? i know that's not easy to do, but doing so would tell if the culprit is in the tank mates or not.

good luck and i hope you have enough time to find out the cause and treat it timely.
