Thanks! They do change alot over a few months though. Mine looked nothing like that when I got him! Plus being hybrids, there is quite alot of variation.

As advised above, if the water parameters are good and suitable for your fish, then 1-2 weeks of fasting while settling in and adjusting are the norm. Many fish start eating right away. Many won't. For instance, if it was fed a very different diet or maybe even live feeders, it will hesitate to eat new foods. Fasting and patience are needed. If it does not eat after 1-2 weeks, then one must start earnestly thinking about possible reasons, starting with double-checking the water parameters with a different test kit or at your LFS.

It is trivial and you probably know it... that most usually, almost always, it is not the water appearance that defines its cleanliness and quality but, at a minimum, NH3 0, NO2 0, NO3 5-10 ppm, plus right and stable pH and temperature.

That's crazy I hope mine looks like that! I feed mine choped night crawlers what do u feed? Mine looked nice when i got him but my chiclid tore him up. I don't know why I kept small gold fish in there and he's never hurt them

I feed mostly krill. Some bloodworms, and crawlers. Sinking carnivore pellets when I'm too lazy to thaw stuff out. And the occasional quarantined rosey red or guppies as a treat. Fun to see the bad *** predator come out in him! Just tried some tilapia chopped up for first time the other night but he didn't seem to care for it.
