help whats wrong with my datnoid!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Could be the Datnoid disease. Best thing to do is isolate the fish in a tank with excess filtration, lots of salt and proper doses of formalin. Do daily water changes of at least 25% and dose with salt again. Formalin should be used every 2 or 3 days.

I am not finding any real info on Datnoid disease, any body got a good link?
At least it seems that it is treated the same way as saprolegenia.

Sorry about your loss, gman. From what I've read on various forums and from my personal experience, the "dat disease" is best treated with salt, heat, and good water quality. Ask Ivan--I recall a thread on AP where he indicated that it was likely of bacterial origin but did not respond positively to broad spectrum antibiotics for either gram-negative or gram-positive bacteria.

That's reall bubber bro...

most dat disease cases go unvariably wrong though. Haven't seen one that makes it.

ugh, sorry to hear Gman.

Michael - yes i did have a datnoid that was very very sick with dat disease.

Still have the Datnoid btw... :)

I've been able to rescue a few dats from "the Disease", but I keep a little salt in my dat tanks now to ward off potential relapses.
