Help with a 75 Gal Severum tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would say they would be compatible - go for it.

got it, thank you so much. I was originally planning on angels or acaras so if I cant find and eba locally I may just have to go with angels.

If all else fails, Petsmart/Petco should have them.

Kiss the plants goodbye with severums.

My recommendation would be a few festivum (mesonauta) in place of the severum. They are small/mid size, great temperament, and you can keep them in a community setting with fish as small as black neons. I have a pair of mesonauta mirificus that spawn every 2 weeks, and yet still don't cause chaos even with free swimming fry all over the place.

I actually really like festivums but I cannot replace the severum because I would have no where to put it. I also don't want to give it back to the lfs where they keep them in 15 gallon tanks. Now that I think about it I have a few ideas for stocks.

Filtration is a HydroSpongeVI125 gallon
A tetra whisper 40i
And I can add a spare aquaclear 20

Stock 1
1 sev
3 festivum
2 GBR
8-10 tetras

Stock 2
1 sev
2 angels
5 bolivians rams
8-10 tetras

Stock 3
1 sev
any combo of dwarf cichlids/acaras/angels/other cichlids that you guys think will look good.

Option one sounds like a really good stocking.

Thats what im thinking too but I just hope that 1 50% WC a week is enough cause I'm a student and cant seem to find time on weekdays.

That should be fine for water changes.
I’ve never kept festivum, but from what I know they would behave together similar to sevs or angels. Not true schooling but they go around together.

Alright got it. 1 severum 3 fesitivum a pair of german blue rams and 8-10 lower water schooling fish, maybe cardinals or something fuller bodied? any suggestions? Also would this stock be fully stocked or would I have space to add maybe an angel or another pair of gbr or not. I like where this is going and being all s/a. I will most likely plant it as much as I can with the severum and escape with driftwood branches and like/fake plants.
