So I got a "marbled gar" aka a boulengerella maculata. He is about 7 inches long and I got him today. Saved from a pet store in our mall we have near my work. What should I make sure he has to make him happy. Top cover? Also what should he be eating? I don't mind doin it I just want to do it right

Not sure about the eating but be VERY sure to have a tight fitting, heavy lid. They jump when spooked( happens often ) and have lots of strength ;) I'd feed him whatever he takes- shrimp, bloodworms, smelt, etc. :)

He was in a tank with comet feeders and I have rosys in my tank as food. No attention has need paid to them yet. He freaked out when I turned the lights on today. Kinda a spaz if you ask me. It's only been a day but he is really skinny

Give him time and keep the light off. Put plants and drift wood for him to feel safe and GL!

My tank has rock in it and some fake plants but my cichlids keep ripping them out. Would floating plants help?

Floating plants is not necessary, it might spoke him more. Hopefully he's not so far gone in the weight problem. Not many fishs with starve themself to death. Only a foolish dumb one.

Well it has been two days with no food. It's there. Tried salmon and tilapia today. Nothin at all. He didn't look fed at the pet store either. I'm worried
