unfortunatly all....i wasnt getting postings here. i thought no one replied....but i did end up putting "Sammy" down. turns out his body was rotting before he had the will to leave us. I put him down very humanely in his 600 gallon tank. pulled 50% of his water and pored in 4500 alka seltzer tablets since we couldnt find enough clove oil. he is being stuffed and mounted in the hotel where he lived . btw....guiness has been contacted...he may be the oldest pacu on record.
help with a very sick pacu....please!!!

That's a shame nobody could figure out what was wrong...Still sounds like this pacu lived a nice long life.

it sounds like the owner/hotel staff really cared about the fish. if this illness had been going on for a while they probably would have been upset about it and calling the aquarium service company long ago. it must have happened fairly suddenly.
poor sammy , my old girl is getting there as well, she is in her late 20's possibly 29 years old . i had her in a 10 gallon tank as a boy in my parents house . . now me and my wife take care of her in a 400 gallon in our own home. when you have a fish that long it is like losing a best friend . i will have to face the same one day
awww poor thing that is extremely sad to hear. but like everyone else said thats a long life.. hopefully sammy wasnt in too much pain when he was sick. poor guy
