Ok setup my 300 this weekend stocked fish yesterday... Woke up this morning all my fish breathing hard and going to the top many times within an hour. I really don't wanna put air stones in tank is it something that has to be done????? I attached an air pump to the powerhead to shoot air around the tank..... Will the air pump ruin the powerhead????
Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated thanks....

Is the tank cycled? What are the water parameters? What is the water temperature? Do you have a good amount of surface agitation from the filters and powerhead?

the air will not ruin the powerhead as long as it's not running totally dry. also if you havent cycled the tank expect to do daily if not every other day water changes to keep your ammonia, that's gona spike from your tank being uncycled, in check.

Ok about the cycled part what i did i cycled ALOT of bio media for this tank like about a lil over a month in advance from another tank that been running for more then 6 months...... I tested water yesterday everything was perfect.... I am testing water RIGHT NOW.......

Ammonia spike water change is in effect right now then adding "prime" to water to relax fish......
(i know high Ph but my fish addapt to it it comes from my city 8.0 it sucks but fish are fine)

Ok bout the air stones do i really need them in my 300??????? Or can i just run my powerhead with the pump on it a couple hours a day....??????

you just need something to break up the water surface, that's how oxygen and other gasses are exchanged between the water and air. if you dont like bubbles you can just run a power head right near the surface of the water enough to break up the surface tension

What kind of filtration do you have? Sump, Wet-Dry, Canister?

If you can see the surface water moving then your O2 levels should be fine.

I suspect that once you get the ammonia and nitrite levels down your fish will act less stressed.

Running 2 fx5s n the outlets r on each end with one of outlets shooting at the surface...
