i recently bought an aphilophus sagittae (thats what the LFS referred to it as) im new at fish keeping btw. well anyway.... the clerk told me that he downs feeders like its his job so i bought some to go with. the tank he is in he is sharing with a lutino oscar, not much bigger than himself. the oscar is a wimp and a bit of a B*tch. now the oscar wont leave the damn fish alone, hes chasing it left and right, and neither of them have touched the school of feeders in the tank.

HELP:nilly:

Rearrange your tank and provide caves for both; if they've only been together a few days its normal they will need to establish who owns the tank.

My baby dovii and festae fought for 24 hours on-and-off till the festae released his alpha rights in the tank. Now they sleep together in the same cave.

thanks for the advice, i jus put him in around 5:00 p.m. today so its only been 2 hours together for them. i just dont want the oscar murdering the fish because its so nice and it was a lil pricey

I remember the best thing ive read about oscars on this forum is that they're almost like schoolyard bullies. From what I know they don't get teeth and from the many times ive handfed mine they have like 800grit sandpaper for a mouth.

If the sagittae wont fit in the oscars mouth don't worry about it.

haha alright, thanks
i was freakin out b4
they said the sagittae was pretty rare so i figured it was worth getting

alright thanks, im just hoping he doesnt kill the damn fish.
if it wouldnt kill all the fish i own id get a red devil
