Hello again,

I have three peacocks that have stopped eating or are spitting food. Ive also noticed the white stringy poo. I’ve isolated them into a hospital tank. The first night I added 1 tsp of epsom salt to the 10 gallon tank. No poop the next morning. The next night I added another tsp and fed them some epsom salt soaked nls pellets using the recommended dose from the post on this thread. They picked them up and spit them but about half an hour later one fish was pooping A LOT. They’re all still not eating anything today. I don’t have access to clout and couldn’t find anything to order on amazon (it takes a week anyways to Alaska) I have Petco and petsmart available to me if they have anything that will work. Does anyone have any suggestions what I could do? Should I try epsom salt baths?

The cycle in the 125 is going great btw! Thanks to everyone who helped with that. Ammonia is less than .25 nitrite is less than .25 and nitrate is at 10-20.

Get the water quality controlled as ur not cycled. Try the salt bath and dose some metro to the tank for now. Get some hex shield and mix with garlic or bloodworm juice and hope it gets eaten.

I know it’s not cycled. My previous post explains what happened to the cycle. It’s definitely going in the right direction though and much better than it was. Thanks for the reply. Where can I get metro? Is that what api general cure is?

General cure has metro and prazi
The white poop would indicate metro as a medicine.
you can get on amazon
I think kno4te is just pointing out your water , while maybe improving, is most likely stressing the fish and may be causing the disease
Be advised that since you should be doing a lot of water changes until the tank cycles you would need to re-dose the med. carefully as you how much water is replaced.
Your quandary appears to be more complex now

Just saw you have them in hospital tank
Thats good
.25 nitrite is not good

I knew the water would be stressful to them and as I’ve read, I’m assuming the stress it what caused the bloat. I didn’t mean to cycle the tank with fish in it. I had an accident with my filter before I had fish in it (after I’d done a fishless cycle) that caused me to have to turn everything off for a week. I assumed the bacteria would be fine in the filter for a week while it wasn’t running but I was wrong

Would the general cure be okay to use? I can pick that up at the pet store tomorrow. Otherwise I’ll have to wait about a week to have it shipped to me.
I gave them some peas and there is poop all over now and they’re swimming around very active. Acting normal. Should I assume that they still need to be treated with medication?

I just treated a tank with general cure because pbass not eating and started getting pits
all other fish were healthy and nothing bad happened
bass improved
So given that I think it would be ok

I always monitor the fish and refrain from meds if possible
the hex shield and some garlic guard in food is good advice
hex shield should be used per instructions
not an everyday food
some other advice - keep meds on hand so you treat quickly when needed

I wouldn't medicate when you have ammonia and nitrite in the tank. The symptoms you are seeing may very well just be caused by the water quality rather than by an internal parasite. If the symptoms disappear when the water parameters go back to normal, then they don't need medication. You could look at their feces with a microscope if you want to make sure they don't have internal parasites, rather than expose them to medication they might not need and might actually make things worse.

It's more than stress, ammonia and nitrite are toxic and can damage internal organs, resulting in all kinds of symptoms.

I’m placing an order on amazon for anything I may need. Thank you for all of your recommendations!

The readings are barely visible. Ammonia has a hint of green when held to the card against the white background. Otherwise I’d probably say it’s at 0 and the same for the nitrite. It’s completely blue until held against the white background and you can see that it’s not quite as blue as the card. I’m also using prime every 24 hours and doing water changes almost everyday. Anything you can think of to help with the stress?
